About
SHERYLIN is a contemporary jewelry brand that specializes in handcrafted pieces, merging traditional metalsmithing and goldsmithing techniques to create a raw, imperfect aesthetic. Established by Sherylin Birth, the brand operates out of Lausanne and Lugano, Switzerland. It offers limited collections and custom-made items, emphasizing sustainability and craftsmanship.
Early Days
After studying fashion and working in London’s design scene, Sherylin created her first pieces in 2017, inside her family’s historic workshop —home to the Birth-Gramm company, active since 1940, which produces copper Kugelhopf molds, porcelain dolls, and decorative metal objects inspired by traditional Swiss folklore.
Traditionally men always worked the metal—her grandfather and father worked at the bench—while the women led the business and shaped its creative direction. The women have always been the true heart of the company. Her grandmother brought the vision; her mother carried it forward and passed on the art of selling to Sherylin. Growing up surrounded by tools, materials, and ways of working, it felt natural for Sherylin to draw from everything at hand. Launching a metal-focused brand was the result of instinct more than strategy—an organic path shaped by her surroundings. From the beginning, her focus has been on recycled materials and a direct, craft-based approach. Although the family factory is named Birth, the creations are signed SHERYLIN—a mark of respect and independence.

Learning by doing
Lacking formal training in goldsmithing and guided solely by a fascination with the metal’s properties—unconstrained by rules or a sense of the right and wrong practices— Sherylin’s process became one of bold, fearless experimentation.
Over the years, her skills gradually developed, and techniques honed, shaping SHERYLIN’s identity. Early creations exude a raw, sculptural vitality, featuring rough textures, visible traces of the making process, and distinct, irregular shapes.
This imperfect and authentic aesthetic continues to be central to the brand’s identity.
Additionally, the aesthetic was influenced by the various objects that filled her grandparents antiques shop, objects rich in patina, history, and character. These influences persist in guiding Sherylin’s practice.

Materials and development
In 2019, the brand was officially established to bring her vision to life. As production expanded, the workshop relocated to Lausanne in 2025, yet larger sculptural items are still produced in Lugano.
All pieces are crafted in-house on a limited scale. The work is grounded in recycled brass sourced from industrial production scrap, selected for its warmth and humble background.
Over time, silver and gold were incorporated into the jewelry collections, while aluminum and tin became part of interior design items. Pearls and gemstones were gradually included, always chosen with care and sustainability in mind.

Present practice
As the brand evolves, so does her commitment to learning: adapting both traditional and contemporary jewelry techniques.
Her practice remains intertwined with fashion and craftsmanship—where softness meets structure, and intuition merges with intention.
Since inception, each piece has been handmade, produced in limited series and made to order, preserving the marks of creation—impressions and irregularities—reflecting a lived sensibility grounded in instinct, craftsmanship, and memory.

SHERYLIN is an ongoing endeavor—anchored in memory, shaped by learning, and dedicated to the imperfect and tactile beauty of handmade creations.
